Kuva Sense™ Frequently Asked Questions

Platform Overview
The Kuva Sense™ BETA platform provides a quick glimpse on our future solution for planetary intelligence. This is limited experience showcasing our approach to transforming the EO industry with hyperspectral insights.
For all users across various industries we have prepared a pack of sample data relevant for their industry with some examples of our insights for selected AOIs across the world. You can access both data products and insights live in the platform.
During the registration process you will be able to define in which area/industry you are interested in the most. It is possible to change it afterwards in the user profile if needed.
While we aim to provide a demo experience for all interested users, we are focused on providing the highest quality to our customers, therefore it might take us some time to prepare a demo content for all interested parties. We ask for your patience as we aim to have all areas ready by early 2026.
Yes, we offer you a sample of our offering totally for free. You are not obligated to provide any payment details or such. Test our solution and feel welcomed to share your feedback.
There is no hidden catch, but if you would like to get more insights for your custom areas instead of the sample locations, feel free to reach us for a paid service.
We are very glad that you are interested. Please share with us your details at contact@kuvaspace.com or via our website at https://kuvaspace.com/en/contact and our team will be with you shortly.
API
For the BETA stage we do not offer the API access to our platform.
Account Management
To register, fill out the registration form on beta.kuvasense.com . We currently support email-based registration. Before giving you access to the platform, we will manually verify each registration so, please expect the contact from us.
You will need to provide your name, organization, business email address, and create a password. For more information on how we use your data, please refer to our end-user license agreement and privacy policy.
While our services are still in the early phase it helps us to provide the best possible service for all interested users. In the near future we might reconsider this aspect of the registration process.
Log in with your email and password that you chose when you registered. We use HTTPS which is a secure connection, and we are ISO/IEC 27001 certified, ensuring your data is protected.
Go to your profile page to update your email, password, name and other information. Once updated all changes will be immediately stored in your profile.
While we’re sorry to see you go, you always have the option to get your data removed. If you wish to have your account deleted, you can remove your account yourself via the Profile page using “Request deletion of the account and all personal information”.
Your data, search history and other information will be permanently deleted from our servers within a week.
Data Products
Yes, our data is Sentinel compatible.
Kuva Space offers three data level products:
- Level 1B product is a fully stitched hypercube that merges the visible and near‑infrared bands and is delivered as radiance or top‑of‑atmosphere reflectance.
- Level 1C is top-of-atmosphere (TOA) reflectance data that has been geometrically corrected (orthorectified) and projected to a cartographic grid (UTM)
- The Level 2A product is an orthorectified image that has been atmospherically corrected to remove water vapour and effects such as scattering and absorption, resulting in surface reflectance values.
Before releasing datasets, raw data undergoes several processing steps. First, we remove bad pixels using both pre‑calculated and per‑frame masks. Next, we subtract the sensor’s dark current and apply flat‑field corrections to normalize pixel responses. Radiometric calibration is used to convert the data into radiance or top‑of‑atmosphere reflectance. We then perform image alignment and stitching (Level 1A and 1B) and finally apply orthorectification (Level 1C) to ensure spatial accuracy.
We maintain high quality by rigorously applying calibrations for dark current, flat‑field, and radiometry. Robust bad pixel and noise control measures are incorporated early in the processing chain, and every step is fully documented in the metadata for traceability. Precise image alignment and georeferencing are achieved through homography transformations and the use of ground control points during orthorectification.
At the initial processing stage (Level 0), we subtract the sensor’s dark current from each raw frame to remove inherent background noise. Immediately following this, a flat‑field correction is applied to standardize the response across all pixels. These corrections lay the foundation for converting the data into radiometrically accurate products, which are then used in all subsequent processing steps.
The metadata is delivered in a JSON file that links directly to each image product. Each field within the JSON file is clearly defined, covering aspects from acquisition parameters to per‑band information and unit standards. To simplify interpretation, we offer a Python library available at https://github.com/KuvaSpace/kuva-data-processing that parses the metadata into a convenient Python object, making it straightforward to integrate the metadata into your processing workflow. This approach helps ensure that the information is both accessible and easy to use.
